It's just the latest cell network with supposedly a higher bandwidth since that's the progression of the tech. And then I guess it also has a magical property to slide seamlessly into fake conspiracy theories that right-wing money PACs create so that elections stay stupid.
	🤖 ♥ 6:11pm chris in the redwoods: tim, what i have heard is the 5G (a radio signal) is at or near the same frequency as some safety features on modern aircraft. so, proximity to those 5G signals could cause interference with the safety systems.

	🤖 ♥ 6:23pm Folsom: The problem with the altimeters is that the filtering on the altimeter antenna may not filter the 5G signal enough. To keep the 5G signal from interfering with the altimeter they would have to install additional filters on every plane, and I guess that is impractical. There was a similar case from a company called LightSquared, that would interfere with GPS, they had to stop their development.

Even the 'successes', modulo a few nuts (who tend to be rightists) know that luck played a big part in their success.

	♥ 6:26pm coelacanth∅: Ciggy that just happened to me, with tracphone. i let it sit on the kitchen table for a week then turned it on and disabled almost everything on it. then i tried to transfer my phone # and it wouldn't work i had no phone for a couple days. ultimately i got it working, after several calls to them; no google and shit (though it wont let me delete it completely) but the camera wont work without the microphone enabled. so no camera.

	6:31pm Fox: Lyme Disease went undiagnosed and wrecked me for decades, using up my 20s and 30s looking for answers, ultimately resulting in my being on disability. The greatest silver lining of this is my inability to compare myself to others, or judge my personal success on outside validation. Any art I make is after decades of nerve damage and brain inflammation. Comparison is useless. Everything I do or create is for the making, it's all for me. I am free of traditional competitive ambition, and it's pretty great. I'm just happy to exist and feel capable of joy.
	6:32pm Fox: This whole podcast reminds me of the Alan Watts buddhist tale with the farmer who repeatedly says "maybe" to everything that happens, never taking a stance of events as being good or bad as we never know what will happen as a result.

We have to get even better at manipulating the matter and forces that make us and everything we need for survival. Keep us from deteriorating and dying, usually well before only a century, free even more of us from horribly mandatory labour in agriculture and then in offices, and so free us from bosses as some of us have been freed from the worst of political hierarchy and despots, and then maybe we can talk about some chance of feeling good.

Scarcity put them there, and as such they likely can't believe that it could be over, and even if they could a lot of us couldn't, because it's _dangerous_ to think Scarcity is over when it isn't—I think that was the hippies' main mistake, the morality post- _must_ be very different to the anti–free-rider morality during. (Someone wrote that fear of free riders is all that made mutual aid possible when things were very scarce.)
	♥ 6:47pm Ike: Some of the Pay As You Go plans refill automatically, thought I've had some trouble with H2O with that, so I don't recommend them if you want the most hands-off way to go. It doesn't always refill every 90 days like it's supposed to. I think Page Plus is more reliable for that.

It's just the latest cell network with supposedly a higher bandwidth since that's the progression of the tech. And then I guess it also has a magical property to slide seamlessly into fake conspiracy theories that right-wing money PACs create so that elections stay stupid.

	🤖 ♥ 6:23pm Folsom: The problem with the altimeters is that the filtering on the altimeter antenna may not filter the 5G signal enough. To keep the 5G signal from interfering with the altimeter they would have to install additional filters on every plane, and I guess that is impractical. There was a similar case from a company called LightSquared, that would interfere with GPS, they had to stop their development.

	6:31pm Fox: Lyme Disease went undiagnosed and wrecked me for decades, using up my 20s and 30s looking for answers, ultimately resulting in my being on disability. The greatest silver lining of this is my inability to compare myself to others, or judge my personal success on outside validation. Any art I make is after decades of nerve damage and brain inflammation. Comparison is useless. Everything I do or create is for the making, it's all for me. I am free of traditional competitive ambition, and it's pretty great. I'm just happy to exist and feel capable of joy.

We have to get even better at manipulating the matter and forces that make us and everything we need for survival. Scarcity put them there, and as such they likely can't believe that it could be over, and even if they could a lot of us couldn't, because it's _dangerous_ to think Scarcity is over when it isn't—I think that was the hippies' main mistake, the morality post- _must_ be very different to the anti–free-rider morality during. (Someone wrote that fear of free riders is all that made mutual aid possible when things were very scarce.)
	♥ 6:47pm Ike: Some of the Pay As You Go plans refill automatically, thought I've had some trouble with H2O with that, so I don't recommend them if you want the most hands-off way to go. It doesn't always refill every 90 days like it's supposed to. I think Page Plus is more reliable for that.
