@ David in London Thank you so much for your extraordinary piece on Silver Applesand the Simon Coxe Interview.I haven't been excited by a piece of music journalism in so long I'd forgotten what thats like. we are surrounded by so much bullshit, that when you get a gem of truth you must really appreciate it.

You really convey the excitment and gravity of that night at corsica studios, the Historical importance of the show. The wonderful interview with Simon Coxe gives real insight intoSilver Apples and were they were coming from in the Sixties.

Simon Said he considered Silver Apples a Rock and Roll Band with a new and different sound, and it says so much about the music scene at that time that they were hoping for mainstream success.

Their sound is always otherworldly with lyricsappropriatly abstract and somewhat esoteric, and all their albums are classic including the later stuff.

I kind of wish Simon had stated that the station Danny Taylor was listening to was WFMU and the DJ was Fabio.

Buffalo Bills Quarterback Josh Allen:

some of my favorite clips from LMY features i've read:

"In the early ‘60s, La Monte played with John Cale and Tony Conrad. They’d tune their instruments to the 120hz hum of the aquarium motor for La Monte and Mariam’s pet turtles."
Avatar 🎸 3:27pm
Buffalo Bills Quarterback Josh Allen:

Young isn’t interested in temporal popularity; he believes his music will be exalted, because it leads toward enlightenment. “People have written that I’m the most influential composer in the last 50 years, and I think that’s true,” he says. “What’s more, when I die, people will say, ‘He was the most important composer since the beginning of music.’ It’s not just a work of genius — I did things no one ever dreamed of and I set up an approach to sound that parallels universal structure.”

“La Monte isn’t known for his modesty,” chuckles Rhys Chatham, who studied with Young and is best known for writing minimalist guitar assaults. He recalls La Monte saying, “If one invents fire, why should one be modest about it?”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm

Ah, Gen Ken for the New Year. Yes! Everything new. I got to move from this stupid apartment and this stupid town.

I get the impression that PTA just isn't that deep, like let's say a Fellini, that or else he just can't convey it in a movie, but it is like he is trying to present something deep in this movie but it's not deep at all

I have to say I don’t recognize many of these numbers your playing. I enjoy your deep-voiced announcing. Would it hurt to play some Savoy Brown or Dan Fogelberg now and then? Some of us gain comfort from old tunes we recall from the past. Don’t mind me. I’m set in my ways. Your station is the only one I can pick up here in Carlstadt. I’m hunkered waiting for the snow with a bag of burgers and coffee.

The Last Picture Show is one of my all time favorite films and I just found out Bogdanovich's wife at the time, Polly Platt, came up with the idea to adapt the novel in the first place and really made it what it was. www.currentaffairs.org...

Yeah I learned from Krys O in a previous show re: Bogdanovich. I will say, that he stood by and promoted My Main Man, Orson Welles (I couldn't believe Dana Spiotta entered my brain and wrote the novel "Innocents and Others.") RIP to a complicated guy.

BTW, I think this movie is meant to be a comedy but my criticism holds for a few of his movies, like he's trying to be deep but it ain't working. This and his last movie aren't even successfully atmospheric
