Still reeling from oral surgery this past Saturday for a sideways wisdom tooth extraction but don't fear...nothing that meds and groovy tunes can't heal!

Yes, we've certainly lost a big one!

Hi Mr U! Hopefully they gave you lots of fun painkillers..?

Hey Fab---sadly not as powerful as I'd hoped

had to chase it w Tylenol

Hi Franco!

Franco Twinkie:

Ursula, I know a guy who pulled out a problematic tooth with a pair of pliers onstage.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm
StringOFperils:

Hey, U1000, and Spectacle types!
Avatar 12:12pm
Ursula1000:

Wow Franco--I can't even fathom that---tooth pain is unlike any other pain---we should have a pain meter: toothache, heartbreak....
Avatar 12:12pm
Ursula1000:

Hey StringOFperils!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm
Franco Twinkie:

I've been lucky with it the tooth department Ursula. But I more than make up for it with heartbreak....still!
Avatar 12:16pm
Ursula1000:

yeah heartbreak is a bitch. :( The way I looked at the pain was this was something part of my skull for over 40 years and got yanked---so it wasn't going away without a fight!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm
Franco Twinkie:

I'm afraid that the tooth thing is going to rat pack me when I'm least able to deal with it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm
Feldy:

I had that nasal septoplasty surgery some years ago, and that didn't hurt, but the day they yanked out the gauze was shockingly intense in a way I cannot describe
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm
Feldy:

It felt like they were pulling out my brains through my nose, Egyptian style
Avatar 12:25pm
Ursula1000:

haha woah! quite the scene! it's like, they can numb you up to the nth degree but that feeling of pressure can't be controlled
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm
StringOFperils:

Sounds like my kidney stent removal. One swift yank removed what appeared to be a set of apple ear-buds through...well, maybe you'll get the 'sounding' connection. YeeeoWWW!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm
Franco Twinkie:

Feldy, ouch! I've had quite a few trips to the emergency room for self inflicted stupidity. And the worst thing about it is I know I'm not done! Pain is unavoidable - physical and emotional.
Avatar 12:29pm
Ursula1000:

oh wow SOf---that sounds insane!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm
Franco Twinkie:

SoP, you made me dizzy with that reveal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm
StringOFperils:

Kidney stones. Don't go there. And I promise, I won't share any more grisly personal stuff today. Ha ha.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm
Franco Twinkie:

It never gets better it seems.
Avatar 12:32pm

I just can't wait to stuff my face with something crunchy! These soups and soft pastas are running their course.

I gotta eat too.

I don't normally listen to this show. My mother in law in visiting and WFMU was getting a bit too avant garde for her I think so I switched over. I'm really digging your show!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm

Hey Otis! I got a Betty Crocker illustrated cook book yesterday for fifty cents. The gruesome pictures of holiday food made me think of you.
Avatar 1:09pm
Oti$$$:

Ursula... hope the codeine is working it's magic, everything tends to sound a bit more spectacular and flowers look even more radiant.
Avatar 1:10pm
Ursula1000:

Ugh I WISH I had Codeine---all I got was something called Etodolac which isn't doing tons---had to up it w 2 Tylenols.
Avatar 1:11pm
Oti$$$:

Awww yea Franco. I love a good dated food spread.
Avatar 1:11pm

Hopefully it is the Tylenol with Codeine 500, G.
Avatar 1:12pm

sadly no---just extra strength---it's doing it's thing but I'm not getting that "fuzzy" feeling

Beautiful Feldy!

Franco Twinkie:

Ursula, yesterday I overdid the exercise in the morning. By the afternoon I was in a world of pain. After I ate dinner, I smoked some hash and immediately passed out. When I woke up no more pain! But I was so disoriented I was crashing into the furniture.
Avatar 1:26pm
Mr Fab:

the Thin Lizzy guy made a vocoder track? Damn, that's cool!
Avatar 1:26pm
Ursula1000:

Hash clearly has healing powers!
Avatar 1:27pm
Ursula1000:

I know right Mr Fab? Who knew?
Avatar 1:28pm
Oti$$$:

Never heard that Lynott track. Filing that away in my noggin' with Neil Young's Sample and Hold now. Nice one.
Avatar 1:31pm
Mr Fab:

Yep, and Macca's "Temporary Secretary" in the classic-rockers-go-NewWave file.
Avatar 1:32pm
Oti$$$:

I sense another Music for Maniacs blog comp forming "Classic Rockers Go NewWave". When you do the dub version add Macca's Check My Machine.
Avatar 1:35pm
Mr Fab:

That would be a good one!

dental woes are the perfect excuse to play the Faust classic "j'ai mal aux dents (I have a toothache)." A track I bust out all the time anyway.
Avatar 1:36pm
Ursula1000:

Ooh that would have been a good one Fab!

I love Alice Cooper's 'goes New Wave' period, especially Clones (We're All).
Avatar 1:41pm

Clones is amazing!
Avatar 1:41pm
Ursula1000:

I actually like that whole Flush The Fashion album---I know he's kinda iffy about it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm
Rich in Washington:

Not classic rock, but slightly more punk than one would expect, but Village People's Renaissance is flat out nuts, esp. the song Food Fight, which sounds like the short-lived LA band The Eyes to these ears.

Two fav albums filed under S.

I think Flush was considered one of his 'blackout' albums, when he was drinking and doing the 'caine a lot and has no memory of them.
Avatar 1:43pm

I love that Village People album. But then again, I am a fan of all the VP albums + Can't Stop The Music with Steve Guttenberg playing the Producer.

ursula have you ever done an all-vocoder show? Otis? Or is that all in my fevered imagination?

no but cool idea!

StringOFperils:

Help from above. Thanks for the show!!!
Avatar 1:55pm

Great idea for a show, but no... have never created a playlist of just vocoder tracks. BTW, enjoyed the book, "How To Wreck A Nice Beach". Good one imo.

How To Wreck A Nice Beach - i take off my shirt
Avatar 1:57pm

Thanks for the tunes Ursula. While I have paired down/purged a bunch of 12" singles over the years... that Mantronix with the cover is a keeper, b-stylin' profilin'!

Cheers all.
