Hello, Feld! Benvenuto
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

It certainly has that same eerie atmosphere.
Avatar 2:13pm
Rubberband Girl:

This is a strange record, Rich. Conceptually. This track is amazing, though I'm not quite sure who the vocalist is.

Elliot's records are wonderful. I treasure my Zounds copy.
Avatar 2:15pm
Rubberband Girl:

Rich – it's Don not Dean! But yes, love him. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh! RIght! I see that now!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm
Jan Turkenburg:

I was wondering.. are Don Elliot and Dean Elliot perhaps the same person? both late 1950s, very similar strange orchestral arrangements.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Oh no, they are not judging from a quick search...
Avatar 2:18pm
Rubberband Girl:

The same thought crossed my mine for a second!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh wow. Wiki sez (Don) Elliot was a frequent collaborator of Quincy Jones and contributed to the wonderful Pawnbroker soundtrack, including vocals - so maybe he's the mystery vocalist (assuming he's that high registered )
Avatar 2:18pm
Rubberband Girl:

I used to get Marty Gold confused a lot with Morton Gould.
Avatar 2:20pm
Rubberband Girl:

Yes, I realize now he is the vocalist. It struck me as a female, and I didn't realize he was a vocalist until I just looked closer at the liner notes. :b
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm
MHLee:

Piano - Percussion - Yes?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm
Rich in Washington:

I was unfamiliar with Little Jimmy Scott prior to the Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me film so assumed it was a female singer on that soundtrack.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm

My heart has also been left in San Francisco (but I live in Phoenix)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm

When did you live there, Feld? I was in the East Bay from 2006-recently.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm
Feldpausch:

@Rubberband Girl I never lived there, but for over a decade I go twice a year to visit best friends. When you say East Bay, that means you've been to Merchant Saloon?
