Good afternoon Irene, hello one and all
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:58am
listener james from westwood:

Good Monday, Irene and all! And holy yikes with that roof getting inundated—I'm sorry!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm
Irene Trudel:

Hi Sean, james and all listening in! Yes, it was a very wet night but I was able to catch the water before it did more damage and scooped up the falling plaster. Now it's in the Super's hands to get fixed.
Avatar 🥁 12:02pm
βrian:

The one time my spouse calls me super is when the roof leaks.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:02pm
Brian in UK:

Hello Irene, nothing worse than the plink, plink of dripping water. Hope it gets sorted out.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:03pm
Sean in Bristol UK:

Hey Listener James. Irene, sorry to see the leaking problems, guessing a torrent of rain
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:04pm
listener james from westwood:

(I think we might be on the Drummer stream, still? Hearing a high life–sounding track.)
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:04pm
Threemoons:

Heyo.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:05pm
Brian in UK:

Great interlude, musically, but guess not what you had planned.

Stream hit a cataract.

Listener Robert:

I knew from your photos that you were on the Upper West Side facing west, but didn't know you were on the top floor, always thought you were at least one flight below there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm
Irene Trudel:

Hi βrian and Brian! My guy Peter was on the case getting a call in for repairs. Oops, james! I clicked on the test stream instead of the live one. All sorted out now.
Avatar 12:06pm
Kevin / Ringwood / UK:

Was that the audio equivalent of a handbrake turn just now?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:07pm
doctorjazz:

Hi!
Always liked the James Gang back in the day...
  12:07pm
Listener Robert:

I'd say it was more like manually pulling out the coupling pin from the locomotive or truck.
Avatar 🥁 12:07pm
βrian:

Repairing soffit and fascia today.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:09pm
Sean in Bristol UK:

So I am not going to search or go onto Wikipedia and not wanting to sound thick but Joe Walsh on vocals?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm
Irene Trudel:

Yep Kevin! Big oopsie on my side. Heyo, Threemoons, doctorjazz and Robert! Yeah, we'r on the top floor of our building and we've had other leaks in the past. This was pretty bad. But Peter experienced one years before we met following a roof repair that wasn't finished before a storm. Destroyed the bedroom!
Avatar 🥁 12:12pm
TonyR:

My mom had a roof problem for years. We offered roofers thousands, but access was via an abandoned neighboring property whose 2 owners were dead or in jail. I finally had to butch up and apply some flashing cement to the top. The front of her house had a beautifully engineered roof to promote runoff. The back was just a level-flat slab, added in the 1980s. The front was built in 1910.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm
Irene Trudel:

Sean, Joe Walsh's voice is certainly hard to miss. This was one of his first groups. Good album but a lot more rockin' than that track.
Avatar 12:13pm
Annabella in Crewkerne UK:

Hey Irene, greetings fellow listeners, sorry to see the photo of your leaking ceiling
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:15pm
Sean in Bristol UK:

As a Joe Walsh fan I should have known, thank you for pointing me in the direction of checking out The James Gang
Avatar 🥁 12:17pm
TonyR:

Yeah, I saw James Gang on the list, but what I heard was no James Gang. Roofs. Ugh. Worry about the roof, not the setlist.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm
Irene Trudel:

TonyR, that was the problem at the top of the show. Excited by news of a repair, I temporarily forgot what I was doing. Sounds like quite a repair you had to deal with too!
Avatar 🥁 12:20pm
TonyR:

That IT has included the dripping in the vid just adds to the horror. [Pulls at hair. screams.]
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:22pm
doctorjazz:

Sorry to hear that, Irene!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm
coelacanth∅:

g'morning Irene, all

great james gang song! 'too bad Walsh left that band, the only great thing he ever did
but we got a few great albums out of it
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:26pm
Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Good morning-ish, Irene! Bit of rain through the roof, here, as well!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:27pm
listener james from westwood:

A visit to Anderson's universe is always welcome, esp. w/ the Kronos Quartet stringing along!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm
coelacanth∅:

when i look at hundreds of 7"records with moldy, torn sleeves stuck to them i don't think how beautiful; i think how catastrophic.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:31pm
listener james from westwood:

Also pleased that the skies are slowly matching the color of this playlist background. I'd thought we were getting rain straight through tomorrow, but blue poking through.
Avatar 🥁 12:31pm
TonyR:

Anderson eventually used the word "catastrophic". Good, because I was tensing up. Ruined records just freakin' slay me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm
Irene Trudel:

Hey coelacanth∅, and Summer and Michael and Sylvia! also sorry about your leaks. Luckily the record and CD collection is far from our ceiling drips. That WOULD be catastrophic in my world.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:33pm
listener james from westwood:

@coel: Reminds me of what Sandy did to Norton Records (shudder).
Avatar 🥁 12:33pm

Philly forecast is non-zero chance of spritzes through the day. Beautiful ATM, however.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm
Irene Trudel:

TonyR, WFMU Station Manager Ken lost most of his LP collection in the basement of his Hoboken home due to Hurricane Sandy. I'm hoping the damage wasn't too bad for Storm Henri, although RI got hit.
Avatar 🥁 12:37pm
TonyR:

Oh man. I remember the station putting up a map of where the Sandy water reached in Jersey City, and the water line was literally kitty-corner from the station.
Avatar 12:38pm
annie:

speaking of Ms Anderson, i finally listened/watched "Heart of a "Dog". she's a true story-teller. then i got two books from powell's: "Heart of a Dog" and "Master and Margarita". i dug right into the dog book; man he has a twisted sense of realiy, but i love it. MaM i've read several times and i wanted the pair, due to the cover illutrator's work. and i'm terrible sorry for all y'all's water woes, we had many down here in WNC. reminiscent of what happened to the campsites along the esopus back in '06. Mother-Water does not fool around.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm
Irene Trudel:

Oh, james that's right. Norton Records' disaster was catastrophic! WFMU's building got a lot of damage taht we had to pay out of pocket, thanks to Gov. Christie's chaotic rollout of financial aid.
Avatar 12:39pm
annie:

hi everyone!

Here comes the sun and Irene begins her show. What more can one ask for? (ok....maybe a few other things, but lets just pretend all is well everywhere)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm
Irene Trudel:

Hi annie! I loved "Heart of a Dog." It was a memorial not only to her Rat-Terrier but also to Lou. Very moving. That damage in The Catskills really hit home for me, as we have good friends who live in that area.
Avatar 🥁 12:43pm
βrian:

We got hammered in 2018, but being on high ground saved us. West of us they got almost 16 inches of rain in one night. I recall the noise of the falling water was deafening.
