Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Did you get enough material though?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm
MHLee:

I'll be back in 10 minutes or so. I have to go image DNA bands.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm
MHLee:

Hi PK, how are the dykes?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm
MHLee:

i guess dike doesn't have a y oops
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm
MHLee:

Oh I guess it does in the UK... spelling weird.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Except when it's a name :-) as in Louis van Dyke
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:24pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

I know some dykes, they are okay, I guess. And I also still have dry feet.
Avatar 1:24pm
drolletje:

Dyke means something VERY different here in the UK
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm
Jan Turkenburg:

PK and I know .. ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm
MHLee:

Wikipedia says "A levee (/ˈlɛvi/),[1][2] dike (American English), dyke (Commonwealth English), embankment, floodbank, or stopbank" but I've never heard them called anything other than levee in the US... but always dike in Netherlands
Avatar 1:26pm
drolletje:

I gathered from PK's comment ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm
MHLee:

But yes the other term, I think comes from Polari
Avatar 1:27pm
drolletje:

That old Led Zep track, When the Lesbian Breaks...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm
MHLee:

Sounds like it fits on Camp records
Avatar 1:29pm
drolletje:

I believe t was first used in this particular context in the States, as Bulldike, around the same time as Bulldagger
Avatar 1:30pm
drolletje:

1910s (ish)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm
MHLee:

BD Blues is an old song that definately uses it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm
MHLee:

That was ummm.... Brogan wasn't it?
Avatar 1:31pm
drolletje:

Yes, Lucille Bogan
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm
MHLee:

@WWR I think butch comes from polari now that I think about it, not dyke
Avatar 1:33pm
drolletje:

That sounds about right
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Now brace for impact...
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:35pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

Let's destinguish the ridges that keep the sea out as DIJK from now on, the sapphic females as DYKE and the levee as an unecesssary American equivalent of Dijk.
Avatar 1:35pm
drolletje:

yay! Beatlecover!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:36pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

speekin rords? Horse of darkness?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:37pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

Repser rords of resdom? riving in a rord of ree?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm
Jan Turkenburg:

The horse of darkness blew me away completely!
Avatar 1:37pm
drolletje:

we heard!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm
MHLee:

The album also has "You are So Beautiful" which I'm sure is a trip
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm
Jan Turkenburg:

hahahahahaha, yes...
Avatar 1:38pm
drolletje:

is that camp brother on the right John Waters?
Avatar 1:39pm
drolletje:

Seriously, 2007? they could have looked the lyrics up on the internets
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm
Jan Turkenburg:

They did, they only didn't know how to pronounce...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm
MHLee:

I think it deserves a comp with Ken Lee and some other greats
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:41pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

Who can forget Ken Lee? Libidibidoutyoo
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm
MHLee:

There's another one, an artist called Tongo, which scratches the same niche
Avatar 1:46pm
drolletje:

I HEART THE SHOES!
Avatar 1:48pm
drolletje:

This is fabulous!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm
