"I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on you but I could'nt see where you were going or what you were going for. This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care. I liked it when you played that punk song though. I like Joe Belock a lot." (Visit homepage.)

@John Allen: I discovered him back when Tower Records was a thing and they had the "new music" section, which was full of Hat/Hut and other such labels. Fun to take a gamble on stuff you've never heard of.

Nice. We noted that he's playing the Woodsist fest in Accord, too, but that one is prohibitively expensive, at least for us. I'll see him at the Bell House (going with listener Mister Pumpy!).

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54am
ChukAmok:

@Handy just looked up tix to the Woodsist fest and damn! $350 for a VIP pass that includes access to an indoor bathroom?! Its a great line-up, but I can't help but feel disappointed that the VIP approach was taken at all. That's some Coachella-esque BS.
Avatar 10:56am
sphere:

Maybe we should charge them $350 for the privilege of attending their shindig. And hello.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 10:56am
Handy Haversack:

Yeah, and combine with the cost of a place to stay up there? Well, as Withnail says -- free for those who can afford it, VERY expensive for those who can't!

Yo, sphere!

if you look at the general admission cost, and the lineup each day, it works out to abouy $13 a band, not a lot considering none of the musicians have earned touring income the last 16 months. -JA
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00am
TomDash:

yeah John Pietaro - on fire indeed - wow!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 11:05am

Heard, JA. It's just more than we could swing, esp. with lodging.

Kate's band is playing the same venue next month -- it's a lovely spot!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05am
ChukAmok:

@JA that is also true, but does not factor in travel and room & board for out-of-towners, who I suspect will make up most of the attendees.
Additionally: just the fact that there even *is* a VIP status makes the whole thing kinda gross.

My VIP pass has nothing about a bathroom written on it. But on the back it has some wonderful free verse:

Loving your selection, John! I'm not sure why it bothers me, but I've heard a few of you refer to the stage production of Rocky Horror as "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Having been on stage in the show, I know the correct title is "The Rocky Horror Show." No big deal, of course. Except to Richard O'Brien, I'd guess.
