“I've got to tell you
how I love you always
I think of it on grey
mornings with death

in my mouth the tea

then and the cigarette
dry the maroon robe

chills me I need you
and look out the window
at the noiseless snow “

Good morning Zoot! I heard an interview with Billy Joel a few years ago, on Alec Baldwin's show This Is The Thing on NPR. Joel has certainly has had his ups and downs, and it seems to have lead to no small sense of self-awareness on his part. He's actually quite funny, and was a great guest.

Diana, this song wasn't written by Leonard Cohen, but that's a common misconception. To me, one of the great songs of the last century.

Ted in Montclair:

One of the pleasures of this show is hearing an unfamiliar song and trying to place it in time, based on the vocal style and production. For example, I’d place Judy Doesn’t Live Here Anymore as mid-60s. I’m probably way off. But it’s fun. Memorable song by the way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:48am
Jeffrey Davison:

@Ted: It's Theo Lawrence's song, from only a couple of years ago, but he's clearly a fan of older styles...
