Have said that every Genre has the Forms that make it that Genre - & when the Form is too routine or makeweight - it is Formulaic. 'Classical' for instance sometimes sounds like someone practicing their scales... said I... Otoh thinking of Gittar 'shredders' - & then Segovia - what I love about Segovia is his Virtuosity always serves the Piece & the Musicality.
