	♥ 8:33pm Doug Schulkind: I have a deeply meaningful connection to that Soul Love Now compilation. When I was in high school I was besotted by the local Pacifica radio station in Washington, DC. The station was WPFW and it was a heavy scene with amazing music and phenomenal DJs. Listening to that station was the first experience I had where I realized that radio was something one could DO and not just listen to. One of my favorite DJs on WPFW was Jimmy Gray, who called his show BLACK FIRE. He incessantly put the most absurdly wonderful amount of reverb on his voice and it was massive. One of Jimmy Gray's many side hustles was a little boutique record label he started, also called Black Fire on which he released the most awesome Afrocentricspiritualjazzsoulfunk. Jimmy Gray was one of my great early radio heroes. So yeah, Soul Love Now: The Black Fire Records Story is pretty special to me.

The station was WPFW and it was a heavy scene with amazing music and phenomenal DJs. Listening to that station was the first experience I had where I realized that radio was something one could DO and not just listen to. One of my favorite DJs on WPFW was Jimmy Gray, who called his show BLACK FIRE. He incessantly put the most absurdly wonderful amount of reverb on his voice and it was massive. One of Jimmy Gray's many side hustles was a little boutique record label he started, also called Black Fire on which he released the most awesome Afrocentricspiritualjazzsoulfunk. Jimmy Gray was one of my great early radio heroes. So yeah, Soul Love Now: The Black Fire Records Story is pretty special to me.
