Frank, a year ago, we sometimes stocked vodka or scotch in the house but mostly just drank beer. Now we buy beer maybe once a week but have a liquor selection that some bars might envy. We generally have a couple of cocktails around the snacking hour and then transition to vodka sodas or wine for the evening hours. My list of cocktails that I stock to is two pages of two-column text! What a world.

Later on I have to go out for Punt E Mes, dry vermouth, Luxardo Maraschino liqueur, and rye. Sheesh. What's happened to me?

Mr Shelley, if you want to see an important piece of information, I implore you to watch Brandy Vaughn Merck you tube. Ms Vaughn was found dead last month at 40 years of age. She is our latest Karen Silkwood who was murdered back in the 80s for spilling the beans on Three Mile Island. One also has to ask why Bill Gates, who has no medical training was allowed to be on TV before his employee Fauci, while he repeated his message, We won't be normal again till we get a vax. There's a lot going on here if one is willing to look beyond the official narrative

Okay I'll throw in my Covid take. Suffice to say I agree with Michael's basic assessment that there is huge amount that is not known relative to what is known. Not going into wild theories either but it seems spraying down Amazon packages and bags of Doritos wasn't necessarily helpful.

BTW I am a so-called "long hauler" -- got sick just before the lock down. Like a flu but since have had rotating symptoms including fatigue and a distorted sense of smell. Mild relative to some I read about.

Also know two people who got extremely ill from the vaccine as well as some who experienced little. Again, what we do not know...in the meantime I seek to do the best I can in all regards and not be arrogant in proclamations.

And that side of the family is right off the boat (including my father), so it's not like we're talking typical Italian-American cooking here.

@Handy, I tried it with spaghetti squash last month and it didn't quite work out the way I wanted. I think the starch from the pasta is essential to that dish.

Dave from Brooklyn, the NYSDOH website is recommending mask wearing. Where exactly are you seeing the language you are quoting ? There was a period of time last year, prior to the scientific acceptance of aerosolized transmission of covid, when some governmental sites were saying what you claim. But the science changed that. Still, send the link for what you are citing, please.

Speaking of Rick Springfield & unfunny sitcoms, he was on "Suddenly Susan" (not sure how many episodes) as the boyfriend (I think), but in one episode he stars w/Warren Zevon (playing himself)! Clips are on YT (one thing YT is useful for). And speaking of sitcoms, Ann Magnuson had a regular role in "Anything But Love", this workplace/romance with Jamie Lee Curtis & Richard Lewis, which I remember being pretty good...wondered what happened to Ann M., hadn't seen her in anything in a long time (am friends with a fellow member of Pulsallama, that band she was in, on Facebook).

Yeah, Greg. I think it was a solid six months before I felt like I wasn't actively monkeyed. Probably two years before I might go for a day without thinking of smoking.

@Frank, yeah, that's how my Sicilian friend explained it to me. I use his "recipe"; it's a five-page e-mail to cover making a dish that has four ingredients (counting water!). You know, discursive!

Shoot, I have been working on a workshop proposal, and the time has flown! Great stuff, MS! Thanks to you!
