hey Brian! it was darn cold here in north Texas. 30 to 40 degrees below normal, with severe wind chills far below that. i was fairly lucky, though. i did keep my power & that meant the cabin i'm living in stayed above freezing for most of the time. i did well. i also had water. thanks for asking.

hey TDK60! how are you?
  12:44pm
Linda Lee:

right, i figure so.
Avatar 12:45pm
Stork:

@LL: here's the lowdown from wiki: To more accurately portray Simone's likeness, light-skinned Afro-Latina Saldana used dark makeup, nasal and dental prosthetics, and wigs when playing to role of Simone for the film.[10] These adjustments to Saldana's natural appearance continued to raise controversy with Nina Simone fans, viewers and even racial justice advocates like Ta-Nehisi Coates. If my memory serves, this London performance by Nina took place soon after a rather horrid breakdown she experienced. Many pleaded with her not to go through with the show. The story goes that Creed Taylor was in the audience, and he immediately reached out and signed her to do the Baltimore album. (The recording of which was a whole other circle of hell for Nina.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm

Wow, what's this turning into?

Yeah, but I seem to recall that the refrain in the song "415 Music" is "four fifteen..."

Doug is saying the stream is going to an all-Who format, one DJ at a time.

Dean, thanks for that link -- bookmarked. i've never heard of any of the bands on the album art. will have to check it out.

Stork, you mentioned Four Fifteen records guests -- i'd never heard 415 (area code of SF) mentioned as Four Fifteen (always 4-1-5... so i had to ask. sounds like you had it right though (no surprise))

Lorraine Hansberry was a brilliant woman. There is a famous recording of her being interviewed by Mike Wallace (prior to 60 Minutes) and he is trying to push her toward a softer, less provocative stance on Black demands for equality. She ties the scumbag Wallace into a knot and discards him with grace and elan.

Stork:

Don't worry, adamdoesit, it'll always seem like Overtime with Stork: The Show.

Is that Hansberry interview to be had, Doug? Gotta see that.

Here is some portion of the Hansberry interview with Mike Wallace. From 1959. The audio is terrible and not at the right speed: youtu.be...

Here is an accurate description of the proceedings I found onlime:

"Wallace unpacks all of his RACIST, white-supremacy and Lorraine responds with hit-after-hit—out-of-the-park, crushing Wallace with EVERY REALISTIC ANALYSES of usa RACISM!!!"
Avatar 2:41pm

Still here listening, Stork.

Never figured Wallace for a white supremeacist, frankly, but he was certainly a routinely clueless putz of his day.

Stopped for a healthy lunch (circulate chip scone and hamentashen, clotted cream, coffee, followed by microwaved frozen tortellini (with plastic wrap, while reading a Sunday Times article on endocrine disrupters. Thankfully don't have to worry about my sperm counts at this point). Loving the show...
Thanks, Stork!
