For ear clogs (and this will sound weird) try massaging the area where your eustachian tubes are, kind of pulling downward. And open your jaw all the way. I went through a several year cycle of ear problems a few years ago, and this helped!

I am very sensitive about my ears. When I was around three years old, my adenoids became infected and the inflammation pressed against the auditory nerves leaving me 80% deaf in both ears for about six months. I am still catching up, developmentally.

Avatar 9:21am
Lisboner Pascal (France):

That's horrible Doug. I met my partner through shared tinnitus issues, she's learned to look after herself more, be more peaceful, so there's that but the strange thing is there are so many reasons people develop ear issues & tinnitus -- for her, emotional trauma, for me, I don't know but noise exposure + stress from early age. If it's of any use I am confident that, among many things, meditation can be a relief to those not looking to get rid of it entirely, but to 'take the cloak off', to soften its intensity. Some peculiar places tinnitus can lead you or perhaps already has...

Doug, I also had an ear issue years ago. The doctor vacuumed out what was in there - it wasn't wax - which felt strangely good. Then he sprayed a purple powder in my ear (fungicide!!!). I had to go back the following week for a second treatment, but that took care of it. I hope your issue is as simple.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:25am
Doug Schulkind:

The last time I had an ear problem this bad was right before 9/11. I went to an ENT doc on September 9 to have a wick put in to deliver the antibiotics. I was supposed to return on September 11 to have it checked, but the doc cancelled (there were no subways running anyway) because he was on call at the emergency room waiting for the flood of victims that never came.

OK, maybe time to change the subject.

Hearing loss on one side, 2 causes most likely. Simple ear wax occlusion can do it, and removing it takes care of it. Eustacian tube dysfunction is the other common reason, usually (but not always)accompanies a colds or sinus infection. I've seen ENT's treat it all sorts of ways, steroids, antibiotics, from what I've read, none of it works, but the tube usually heals on its own over time (the time can vary a while lot).

Balafon is spelled "bailophone" on the jacket of this Pharaoh LP. In addition to piano and bailophone, Lonnie Liston Smith is all credited with contributing "ring cymbals" and "shouts."

Coming up next is, in my opinion the grandaddy of all balafon-infused "jazz" tracks. A melody I have heard in my dreams for forty years. To call it sublime would be a monumental understatement.

Now, let's see if the expectations I have ignited will match reality.

Let me know what you think.
