Upcoming events:

Wednesday, May 25th, 3pm - 6pm: Joe Frank - Somewhere Out There: "Just Get Me Out of Here"
One-hour dramas by Joe Frank air alternate Wednesdays at 4pm (Eastern) on Irwin's program. On Weds. May 25th we'll air an episode entitled "Just Get Me Out of Here," from Joe's SOMEWHERE OUT THERE series. After a Joe has a breakdown, he's committed to a mental hospital on a ship that declares itself an independent nation that plans to invade New Zealand. He recalls attending a scientific conference on aphrodisiacs, where a remarkable wonder drug is introduced which has the side effect of enhancing memory. He then goes on an archeological dig in Peru with a beautiful woman, whose comic stories are juxtaposed against her chronicle of a masochistic love affair with a detached narcissist.

Wednesday, June 1st, 3pm - 6pm: Moondog Centennial Celebration
Moondog was blind, dressed in ancient Viking regalia, slept on 6th Avenue in New York during the 1950s, and was a musical genius. He was born Louis Thomas Hardin, in Marysville, Kansas, 100 years ago May 26. His biographer, Robert Scotto, visits Irwin's program to celebrate the Moondog centennial for three hours on June 1. The show will feature recordings from the 1950s to the 1990s, reflecting the strange sounds and exotic beauty of one of the most underappreciated American composers of the 20th century. Moondog recorded with animals, self-made instruments, and tugboat horns; composed percussion pieces, chamber music, and works for 25 saxophones. Scotto is the author of The Viking of Sixth Avenue, the only full-length chronicle of Moondog. This is his fifth visit to Irwin's program.
