Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from October 14, 2016 Favoriting

Uncle Michael's avatar View Uncle Michael's profile Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Willy was astonished to have Doc, one of his idols, ask him if he wanted to write some songs together. He put his heart & soul into "Le Chat Bleu" only to have Capitol USA shelve it because it wasn't "punk". Fortunately it was released in Europe and import sales to the USA changed Capitol's mind.
Dean, Willy was actually quite self-effacing about his talent and yes, he could sing rings around Jagger.

  1:37pm

@Dominick: The Chronicle article does not depict a self-effacing guy, but we can chalk some of that up to the writer, I suppose. Anyway, according to the article, DeVille left NYC in 1973 because "[t]here was nothin' happenin' in New York." Gets to Bay Area. "That two years was a very hard time for me. Cause I'm a very city-oriented guy and everybody was still hung over from the hippie thing."
