* Fragments from show become poemish:
I dream of another moment like this
Sun is gonna shine above
Put the pattern straight
Trying to kick off a revolution
Keep your head down
We may not come around
More obvious than it's ever been
Lesson for whole life
Whole life have balance
It's not real, it's just a play
The world opens up when you take structure away
a seashore of smooth stones
there's too much to see
ripped to pieces
I will be heard
I'll keep talking for the rest of my life
What would you do differently?
The right action at the right moment
The action that nourishes you
Explore it truthfully
If you're interested in doing what you want to do in the world, then do it
Be diligent and somewhat courageous in your attempts to do your stuff in the world
We're all going down together
As we come down together
The ends will always be reached

Brazil on TV is the hackjob edit now known as the "love conquers all" version that changed the entire meaning of the film

So you were actually missing the last 23 minutes where it gets really scary
Avatar 5:28pm Bliss:

I guess I never saw it, except for a few bits while visiting a friend's dad.

TV in this case was cable, but it was in about 1986, so not sure if it was that edit. I secured the rental almost immediately thereafter.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13pm northguineahills:

I was surprised Burnsy's Vietnam War actually went into depth (90 minutes of depth) into the French-Indochina war (and France in Vietnam since 1850) and the U.S.'s involvement way back in the late 40s. That's something that's not just glossed over in most American docs produced for mainstream consumption, but it's usually ignored outright.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13pm Rand al'Thor:

I like these Garland clips.
Avatar 6:14pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Avatar 6:15pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Avatar 6:15pm Bliss:

What does that mean?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm Rich in Washington:

There was once some pretty comprehensive and lengthy series on PBS about Vietnam. I cannot remember the title. It seems like it ran several times over. It covered the French-Indochina era in the first several episodes, if memory serves. It was pretty good.
I think it was in the mid-80s.
Avatar 6:17pm Bliss:

BLISS was a one-off collaboration. Steven Klett on guitar.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm Rich in Washington:

That Dyer title reminds me of an old Nat'l Lampoon radio hour PSA: "Don't be a careless person. Become a care-more person".
Avatar 6:18pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Bliss, this piece is so perfect here
Avatar 6:18pm Bliss:

honored to have it on here.
Avatar 6:18pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

The truism is bandied that the U.S. saw it as Domino Theory Cold War stuff - but Vietnam as their own Civil War: a perfect reflection back to us of what we did to the British! But - essential to establish the Colonial background to that. & - the plain Falsehood & Duplicity of JFK & LBJ & MacNamara et al... I would prefer they went even deepr into the U.S.A.'s background in such activity - but that they even mention say Iran on a major Network...
