A live, improvised sound collage experiment, going back 23 years, weaving mesmerizing new soundscapes from found and collected materials right in the present moment.
Pop music, speeches, live phone calls and spontaneous monologues become ambient loopy layered threads riding the liminal spaces between waking and dreaming. (Visit homepage.)

* Fragments from show become poemish:
I dream of another moment like this
Sun is gonna shine above
Put the pattern straight
Trying to kick off a revolution
Keep your head down
We may not come around
More obvious than it's ever been
Lesson for whole life
Whole life have balance
It's not real, it's just a play
The world opens up when you take structure away
a seashore of smooth stones
there's too much to see
ripped to pieces
I will be heard
I'll keep talking for the rest of my life
What would you do differently?
The right action at the right moment
The action that nourishes you
Explore it truthfully
If you're interested in doing what you want to do in the world, then do it
Be diligent and somewhat courageous in your attempts to do your stuff in the world
We're all going down together
As we come down together
The ends will always be reached

Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 9/20/17 6:13pm northguineahills:

I was surprised Burnsy's Vietnam War actually went into depth (90 minutes of depth) into the French-Indochina war (and France in Vietnam since 1850) and the U.S.'s involvement way back in the late 40s. That's something that's not just glossed over in most American docs produced for mainstream consumption, but it's usually ignored outright.

Avatar Wed. 9/20/17 6:16pm Rich in Washington:

There was once some pretty comprehensive and lengthy series on PBS about Vietnam. I cannot remember the title. It seems like it ran several times over. It covered the French-Indochina era in the first several episodes, if memory serves. It was pretty good.
I think it was in the mid-80s.
Avatar Wed. 9/20/17 6:17pm Bliss:

BLISS was a one-off collaboration. Steven Klett on guitar.
Avatar Wed. 9/20/17 6:17pm Rich in Washington:

The truism is bandied that the U.S. saw it as Domino Theory Cold War stuff - but Vietnam as their own Civil War: a perfect reflection back to us of what we did to the British! But - essential to establish the Colonial background to that. & - the plain Falsehood & Duplicity of JFK & LBJ & MacNamara et al... Judy, alcohol? She was pretty darned unhappy
Avatar Wed. 9/20/17 6:21pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I think I unconsciously played Judy and the Dream of Horses with this in one show (Belle & Sebastian)
Avatar Wed. 9/20/17 6:23pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

This is the later moment when there's finally a playlist
Avatar Wed. 9/20/17 6:24pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Avatar Wed. 9/20/17 6:24pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 9/20/17 6:25pm northguineahills:

@Rev: Yeah, the fact they mention CIA coups and specifically touch on Iran and Nicaragua was a little surprising.

Thanks Kenzo, I should leave work, Cheers!
Avatar Wed. 9/20/17 6:26pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Oh, hi northguineahills! You should stay glued to your trancemaker
Avatar Wed. 9/20/17 6:30pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Thanks, aratuk! Very good you today!
Avatar Wed. 9/20/17 6:39pm Bliss:

Once a guy I knew played an Eric Clapton song on repeat through the whole night. I was in the next room and heard it.
Avatar Wed. 9/20/17 6:40pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

ISO tones with Stone Roses
Avatar Wed. 9/20/17 6:40pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

In college my neighbor played a Cure song all night long. Me and the guy who lived on the other side of his room are forever haunted by that song now
Avatar Wed. 9/20/17 6:41pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

And I feel sad for all the people who've shared walls with me. It's an endless loopfest.
Avatar Wed. 9/20/17 6:41pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Stone Roses by itself
Avatar Wed. 9/20/17 6:41pm Bliss:

Oh, do you do that a lot?
Avatar Wed. 9/20/17 6:42pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I remember when this was paired with Ally Sheedy and Emilio Estevez arguing from The Breakfast Club. You have problems. Oh, I have problems?!
Avatar Wed. 9/20/17 6:42pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I listen to short loops quite a lot
Avatar Wed. 9/20/17 6:42pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Basically what you hear in my shows, is what goes on in here and sometimes externalized
Avatar Wed. 9/20/17 6:42pm Bliss:

What happened to Ally Sheed?
Avatar Wed. 9/20/17 6:43pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Disclaimer: Everything on my shows is a parody and not really having anything to do with me as a person
Avatar Wed. 9/20/17 6:43pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 9/20/17 6:49pm Carmichael:

Hopefully you'll see the director's cut, Kenzo. Terry Gilliam is certified.

Avatar Wed. 9/20/17 6:51pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

How incongruously it came out of nothing
Avatar Wed. 9/20/17 6:52pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

142-minute version, complete with the reading of the charges, which is such a great scene, summarizing the adventures of the rest of the film
