A live, improvised sound collage experiment, going back 23 years, weaving mesmerizing new soundscapes from found and collected materials right in the present moment.
Pop music, speeches, live phone calls and spontaneous monologues become ambient loopy layered threads riding the liminal spaces between waking and dreaming. (Visit homepage.)

Options June 28, 2017: (Show #311) Whatever Happens Will Happen Again

A lost episode of Kenzo's from 2004 (from the Austin years), never published or rebroadcast prior to today's debut.

Originally created live on KOOP radio in Austin, TX, on May 1, 2004.

Relive that place and moment in time, complete with ridiculous phone callers, in this dazzlingly complex and absurd environmentally immersive and once live improvised sound collage.

Avatar Mon. 6/26/17 3:08pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I'll be observing a temporary vow of comment silence today.

Please make up for it for me: Lead lively sound-collage-inspired conversations, have profound revelations, spark a revolution, and send love.

Yay! I've never been to Austin.
After this show I expect my tolerence for super hot chilis to be vastly amped up.
Avatar    Wed. 6/28/17 5:07pm listener james from westwood:

Heya Kenzo and all! Sounds like "Lawyers in Love" is poking its way through there.
Avatar    Wed. 6/28/17 5:08pm fred:

Lively conversation, profound revelation, revolution, and love? Uh, sorry, I just blundered here after hearing Please Call Stella (accent.gmu.edu). Thought it was Kenny G. I'll show myself out
Avatar    Wed. 6/28/17 5:10pm geezerette:

Another interesting link Fred, thanks for posting.
Avatar    Wed. 6/28/17 5:17pm fred:

Looks like Kenny G was first: wfmu.org...

hey Kenzo! long time no see!
Avatar    Wed. 6/28/17 5:24pm fred:

I'm playing the Kenny G Stella-fest at the same time as this show
Avatar Wed. 6/28/17 5:25pm northguineahills:

Well, I finally got a job, and one that I actually want, doing what I want, living where I want (well, except nyc, but leaving nyc was part of the plan). It only took all year.
Avatar    Wed. 6/28/17 5:26pm weinstein:

I keep trying to dismiss Paul McCartney, and then stuff like this happens.
Avatar    Wed. 6/28/17 5:27pm fred:

@NGH: Wonderful news!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 6/28/17 5:28pm cklequ:

Stuff like this makes it much easier for me to dismiss Paul McCartney.
Avatar    Wed. 6/28/17 5:30pm listener james from westwood:

Congrats, ngh!
Avatar Wed. 6/28/17 5:37pm northguineahills:

Thanks fred & james. Just found out. Now, I just need to figure out how to move.
Avatar    Wed. 6/28/17 5:39pm fred:

So it's not the one could bike to? Where is it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 6/28/17 5:42pm melinda:

hi all
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 6/28/17 5:46pm melinda:

I grew up in Austin and moved away permanently around '91. If KOOP was around in the 80s I didn't know about it.
Avatar Wed. 6/28/17 5:47pm northguineahills:

It's in Gainesville. I'm mostly in Jacksonville where my stuff is (I still also have stuff in Brooklyn), The office is on the outskirts of town, so, it's a rather long bike ride from where most of the town is located.
Avatar    Wed. 6/28/17 5:50pm fred:

@NGH: Well, there will be plenty of time to bitch about the drawbacks later. Enjoy the moment!
Avatar Wed. 6/28/17 6:08pm Gary:

Hey, congrats on the job, NGH! That's terrific
Avatar Wed. 6/28/17 6:09pm Gary:

Gainesville is quite the groovy college town, I hear
Avatar    Wed. 6/28/17 6:09pm fred:

I have to bail out and go to sleep. I really enjoyed it when Kenny's Stella overlapped with yours. I hope you don't mind my playing another show on top of yours. I just couldn't resist: this was one of my fave Kenny G shows
  Wed. 6/28/17 6:17pm Barry Bliss:

How often do you think about not working anymore?
Avatar Wed. 6/28/17 6:18pm northguineahills:

Yeah Gary. Plenty to do, but it still has a small town feel. Housing is cheap, variety of cheap restaurants, galleries, music venues, bars, etc. I even saw more record stores there then when I went to college there 20 years ago.
Avatar Wed. 6/28/17 6:18pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

@listener james: Yes, Lawyers in Love
Avatar Wed. 6/28/17 6:18pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

@fred: I might be mistaken, but my "Please Call Stella" show happened earlier than Kenny G's (one night before the show you're hearing now). lastever.org...
Avatar Wed. 6/28/17 6:18pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

@fred: And by first, I meant second. Mine was more interesting! (to me)
Avatar Wed. 6/28/17 6:19pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

@melinda: KOOP Austin didn't exist before the 90's.
Avatar Wed. 6/28/17 6:20pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

@fred: Sound and your ears are yours

Hello Barry, geezerette, steve, northguineahills, weinstein, cklequ, and Gary!

@Kenzo that's what I suspected.

This era is the one by i was introduced to the show five years ago, choosing one from the archives! it does often bring a speechlessness! Aspects of its depth (in this era and of course others!) provide a lozenge of tremendous truth!
  Wed. 6/28/17 6:52pm Barry Bliss:

Thanks, 2004 Kenzo.
Avatar Wed. 6/28/17 6:55pm Gary:

Thanks, Kenzo! I'll be on in 5 minutes here with some KRAZY Canadiens: wfmu.org...
