Brian Olewnick, author of Keith Rowe: The Room Extended
- Author and critic Brian Olewnick [pronounced o-LEV-nick] stops by D:O Radio to discuss his new biography, Keith Rowe: The Room Extended (powerHouse Books). Rowe is one of the most compelling artists to emerge out of the experimental music scene of 1960s London. Co-founder of the collective AMM, Rowe has played with a wide range of composers and musicians, including Cornelius Cardew, Christian Wolff, John Tilbury, Evan Parker, Taku Sugimoto, Otomo Yoshihide, Oren Ambarchi, Christian Fennesz, Toshimaru Nakamura, and David Sylvian. Olewnick's is the first full biography of this artist, and Brian will talk about Rowe's work while also bringing some key tracks to share. (Here's hoping Brian might also discuss his days booking loft acts at Environ in NYC in the 70s.) This is the first ever guest for D:O Radio (other than that time Doug Schulkind stopped by), so while you should come for Olewnick on Rowe, you might want to stay for the inevitable technical gaffes.
