THE INTERNET MUSEUM OF FLEXI/CARDBOARD/ODDITY RECORDS

Cereal Box Records: Many Records

Cereal Box Records: Many Records

These are probably the most popular and memorable of all flexi records. These samples are limited to records that you actually had to cut from the box. There are many others that were included inside the box or were sent away for with proofs of purchase as a special offer. These were manufactured first on Wheaties boxes in the 1950's and continued to delight children (and annoy parents) through the 1970's. I have recently seen a box sold in the supermarket with a CD-ROM on the front so the concept kind of lives on. I was fortunate to have an unused sample, along with some other fine items, donated to this museum from a former employee of the flexi disc manufacturing company that made these.
Thin cardboard with clear record embossed or glued at the edges.
