Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from August 18, 2023 Favoriting

Uncle Michael's avatar View Uncle Michael's profile Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

In other words Uncle gave us only one channel on purpose..
George Martin went back to the 1965 albums ('Help!' & RubberSoul') & remixed that hard Stereo separation into something later considered more 'normal ...when CDs came out ??
Thing about the Beatles Mono - they were sometimes notably different entire Mixes - & it's well worth becoming familiar with them - try 'Ticket To Ride' & the entire Pepper album... As you may or may not know - this is often true for other period Artists as well. & also sometimes different Mixes got out for other formats - Cassettes & 8-Tracks & stuff...

When I came home from college to spend Christmas break with my family in December of 1965, one of the gifts I had purchased was the "Rubber Soul" album and it was constantly on the turntable that holiday season. My two younger sisters(11 and 14 at the time) were crazy for the record and we drove our mom nuts as we sang along with John, Paul, George and Ringo at every opportunity. Here's the story I found on 6.4 = Makeout: "The lyrics of this song are about the protagonist wanting to make out with his partner. The number 6.4 is used to represent the intensity or level of attraction between them. The protagonist also mentions that he has a crush on someone named Karen. The song ends by describing his partner as a groovy girl with red lips. In simple terms, the song is about the protagonist wanting to kiss his partner and expressing his attraction to her."
