Eno was working on what would be his "Before and After Science" album, trying to reconcile the artificial sounds of synths, with warm human soul. He stopped at a cafe, heard a G Morodor/Donna Summer song over the p.a., was like oh CRAP, and promptly scrapped everything he'd been doing. So the story goes.

The first three (or four) solo Eno albums are pretty sublime and 'cutting edge' in terms of inventiveness, etc.
And his first couple of ambient records (he arguably invented the genre) are also really good and similarly ground-breaking.
