It's really a crime that Scott Walker was virtually unknown on US radio.

By the way, I'm terrified of roller coasters, but we must conquer our fears, yes?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm

I didn't really know of him beyond the Walker Brothers until I was in college.

It's likely that I never heard him until listening to WFMU online.

I think i learned that last song from Tiny Tim

Similarly, I learned about him from WFMU deejays and from working in the station's library as a student.

Hey, MHLee! Tiny Tim was a font of musical history.

It was mentioned last in a comment to Mr. Fab that I recorded a bulk of this version of Manhattan Tower off a late night show on WFMU in the 80s.

Gordon Jenkin albums are so bizarre. Like mid-century psychedelia with out the psychedelia.

It's funny. I've had this album for years, based on how bonkers his Seven Dreams LP was, but have never listened to it until this show.

Well, Mr. Oxford, that was from a CD I bought at an art exhibition about 15 years ago. The artist was Marina Zurkow. It was an exhibit of her sculptures and art at the Montclair Art Museum. The museum store had a CD called Karaoke Ice which was based on a project by Zurkow and others. They took an ice cream truck to neighborhoods and had people sing karaoke to the ice cream tracks of pop songs. I've never seen it anywhere especially online. :(
