	3:08pm Dean: Bob Seger-like, I got out of Denver early this morning. The heat there was three digits now and then over the past few days. Berkeley is currently mid-60s.

	🦇 ♥ 3:28pm Bas NL: We have the good fortune to have sand soils walled in by clay layers. The sand readily accepts water and keeps in in place. Like a giant thermos. Keep the warm at one end and the cool on the other.
	3:28pm Dean: Berkeley is on the east side of the San Francisco Bay. Directly east across the Bay is Marin County, south of which is San Francisco. We're quasi-coastal, I guess, since our coast is not the Pacific Ocean, but the Bay.

Central TX and a lot of other places in TX are in a big drought right now, we've had about 3 inches of rain all year, so that makes the heat all the worse. And when isolated storms roll through I get nervous that lightning is gonna start a fire.

	🦇 ♥ 3:28pm Bas NL: We have the good fortune to have sand soils walled in by clay layers. The sand readily accepts water and keeps in in place. Like a giant thermos. Keep the warm at one end and the cool on the other.
	3:28pm Dean: Berkeley is on the east side of the San Francisco Bay. Directly east across the Bay is Marin County, south of which is San Francisco. We're quasi-coastal, I guess, since our coast is not the Pacific Ocean, but the Bay.

Central TX and a lot of other places in TX are in a big drought right now, we've had about 3 inches of rain all year, so that makes the heat all the worse.
